REVIEW: From Twinkle, With Love

Image
Hey lovelies!

I just finished 'From Twinkle, With Love' by Sandhya Menon, and I am extremely happy with it! I graciously received an ARC from Simon & Schuster Canada in exchange for an honest review, and cannot wait to share my opinions on this great story.

RATING: 4.75/5

REVIEW: 'From Twinkle, With Love' tells the story of aspiring filmmaker Twinkle, and her journey through her first experiences of love, heartbreak, and how the power of friendship can overcome even the greatest pain.

I absolutely adored this novel, from the characters to the plot, and even the family struggles. Sahil's character was probably my favourite, loyal from the first page, and an honest friend to Twinkle when she needed someone to confide to. When individuals read his point of view, it is a true teenage guy perspective, and made the story feel real.

In terms of Twinkle's development, her growth as a leader, friend, and a person were impressively written.Twinkle's unsteady relati…

This modern-day retelling of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing takes place at the idyllic Camp Dogberry, where sisters Bee and Hana Leonato have grown up. Their parents own the place, and every summer they look forward to leading little campers in crafts, swimming in the lake, playing games of capture the flag and sproutball, and of course, the legendary counselor parties.

This year, the camp drama isn’t just on the improv stage. Bee and longtime counselor Ben have a will-they-or-won’t-they romance that’s complicated by events that happened—or didn’t happen—last summer. Meanwhile, Hana is falling hard for the kind but insecure Claudia, putting them both in the crosshairs of resident troublemaker John, who spreads a vicious rumor that could tear them apart.

As the counselors juggle their camp res…

ARC Review: Legendary by Stephanie Garber

Image
Hey lovelies! How about a review about one of the biggest YA sequels of the year!?

Legendary by Stephanie Garber - 4.5/5

- received ARC from publisher in exchange for review -

This is the long awaited sequel to Caraval, and I was so excited to continue the story of the mysterious Legend. And this book definitely lived up the hype.

This one followed sister Tella, and her journey throughout another game of Caraval. I liked the setting of this one, in a new magical city, with even more dangers. Following her heart, Tella is relying on fate and a magical deck of cards to free her trapped mother, while balancing her conflicting feelings for certain characters. Readers see a more vulnerable side of Tella throughout the novel as she faces intimate dangers very close to her heart.

Beyond Tella, Scarlett's character grows, and you see a more daring side of Scarlett as the story progresses. At one point, I thought she was hiding details about Legend from Tella, but that is all apart of the…

Crushing medical bills have brought her single mom to the brink of bankruptcy, and a wealthy developer is sniffing around the campground. He sees what Julia sees: lush woods, a pristine lake, miles of trails for adventure. Unlike Julia, he thinks this is the perfect spot for a casino resort.

ARC Review: The Accidental Bad Girl by Maxine Kaplan

I finished my current read last night, and I am excited to share what I thought of The Accidental Bad Girl!

Rating: 4.25/5 ⭐

- Received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review -

After ruining her reputation, Kendall is looking to stay under the radar for one more year at Howell. But after being framed for stealing from a drug dealer, she is thrown into a dangerous role, sacrificing the few relationships she has built back up.

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with this book. The character development of Kendall became more complex as the novel progressed, and realistically represented a high school senior's mindset and struggles. I enjoyed the complex relationships in this novel, they added depth and suspense to the plot. The plot itself was also strong, and I enjoyed the features of romance, action, and sorrow. Readers will be able to connect with Kendall as she experiences these situations as well.

The other characters in this novel truly are the reason I enjo…
