ARC Review: The Accidental Bad Girl by Maxine Kaplan

I finished my current read last night, and I am excited to share what I thought of The Accidental Bad Girl!

Rating: 4.25/5 ⭐

- Received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review -

After ruining her reputation, Kendall is looking to stay under the radar for one more year at Howell. But after being framed for stealing from a drug dealer, she is thrown into a dangerous role, sacrificing the few relationships she has built back up.

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with this book. The character development of Kendall became more complex as the novel progressed, and realistically represented a high school senior's mindset and struggles. I enjoyed the complex relationships in this novel, they added depth and suspense to the plot. The plot itself was also strong, and I enjoyed the features of romance, action, and sorrow. Readers will be able to connect with Kendall as she experiences these situations as well.

The other characters in this novel truly are the reason I enjoyed it so much. Each character has their own motives for helping or hurting Kendall, and each has a unique background that was weaved into Kendall's story beautifully.

Note: The ARC is listed as Ages 14 and up, and after reading it, I would probably recommend a higher age rating (16 or 17 years old possibly), as there are mentions of mature topics, including illegal drugs and rape.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this title when it releases, especially for someone interested in a strong female lead and crime elements.
